The Final Five-r

October 17, 2006

October 17, 2011 -- My little boy Ike turned 5 yesterday!
The day was less planned than I like because of our busy, busy week before.  The gifts had been ordered, but not even shipped yet!  There was no cake or even a fun idea.  And as far as fun plans, there weren't any.  Thank goodness he wanted pancakes and waffles for his birthday dinner!  Simple enough for me!  He didn't even want sausage, bacon or hashbrowns to go with it.

Luckily friends stopped by to sing him Happy Birthday, cousins joined us for the birthday dinner,
and ToysRUs carries the same toys we had ordered.
In the morning, Isaac requested a Humpty Dumpty cake.  OK, I thought, I can do that.
Then he said 'Well, maybe an Annoying Orange cake.'   I thought, 'Round, one color, I can do that too.'  Then I looked up Annoying Orange and changed my mind.
Humpty Dumpty won out.
He's been so fun lately, with the things he says!  Sunday we went on a hike up the canyon.  About 100 yards into the hike he had his front pockets full of rocks.  So he started asking me to fill up his back pockets.  Then he had to carry the rest.  For the rest of the hike I had to keep pulling up his shorts because the rocks were pulling them down!  He also learned and used the word 'conglomerate' over and over and over.
The morning of his birthday he woke up and I said "Happy Birthday 5 year old!"
He said "What time was I born?"
 I said "1:45, after lunch."
He said "Then I'm not 5 yet."
I said "Close enough, Happy Birthday!"

The night of his birthday as I was sending him to bed, I said "Oh Isaac, I sure love you!
You're so amazing and I can't believe that you're 5 years old!"
He ran his hand across his forehead and said in all seriousness, "Yeah, and I don't even have any cracks."
Me, "Cracks?!"
Him, rubbing his hand across forehead again, this time looking in mirror, "Yeah, bumps or cracks."
Me, "What are you talking about?"
Him, "Like (great)Grandma and Grandpa Greengo, they have lots of cracks in their skin."
SO funny!  He thought since he was getting older he might have wrinkles!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ISAAC!  I SURE LOVE YOU!
