Snow Canyon 1/2 Marathon

I told myself and Marion that I wouldn't be doing another 1/2.  Soon or ever.  Then I decided I wanted an anniversary get-away.  For some reason a commitment helps us actually do the get away instead of thinking of reasons or excuses to cancel it.

Since it was our 15th anniversary in August, I looked and looked for a 15K in November or December in someplace warm.  I couldn't find one at all, but the Snow Canyon Half sounded good.  So, I did another 1/2.

I was super excited to run through the red rock of the canyon, to soak up some warm weather, and to be with my hubby.  I got 1 and 3, but #2 was not even close!  It was so cold.  There was even snow at the start of the race.

It was a really, really great weekend, but not my favorite race.  The first 3 miles seemed really short, I felt like I could do that running thing forever.  Then my breathing went wacko, my body started hurting, and at mile 7 I felt a little dizzy.  I knew my race would be downhill from there.  (ha, ha, it was downhill.  That was part of the pain!)  I ran what I could and took walk breaks the last 6 miles.  My favorite part was when, around mile 12, I saw Marion ahead of me but headed toward me!  He had finished and come back to finish with me!  I was so proud of him and we were both amazed at how well he did!  Not because he's not capable, but because he had been not feeling well.

If you haven't seen it, check out his post on the race here.

Once again I said I wouldn't do another 1/2.  I'll stick to 10Ks, I said.  Then Marion decided to sign up for Ogden 1/2 and my future jealousy crept in making me think that I should do it too.  Luckily the race sold out in 2 hours and I logged on 30 minutes late.  Phewsh!

So, I got my weekend away with my sweetie, and a run in the red rock.  Awesome!
